After the New Year, Irina was very ill with the flu, then a cold. Then she started having fevers with temperatures 39,5−39,7. We diagnosed a case of «severe influenza» and with antibiotics at the Infectious Diseases Hospital. Almost a week ago, symptoms returned. Blood cultures showed a streptococcal infection in the blood, centered on — the venous port through which all infusions are administered.

Urgent hospitalization with antibiotic therapy is required. The amount required for this is 7−9 000 UAH. It will likely be necessary to remove the infected port and implant a new one. This operation costs up to 20 000 UAH.

_______________________________________________________________

Hello. I am contacting you with hope for help, because all available resources have already been exhausted. My primary diagnosis is — short bowel syndrome (SBS), resulting from a subtotal resection of almost the entire small intestine in 2013 when doctors were trying to save my life. It all started with a car accident in 2010 year. It was a beautiful, warm May day. After an evening workout, I was returning home. I was standing at the bus stop on street Dnipropetrovsk Road, corner of Vysotskogo Street in waiting for a minibus. According to witnesses, a dark foreign car was speeding along the traffic. At high speed, she drove into a Zhiguli parked in front of a bus stop «and» and flew into a bus stop where pedestrians were standing. In the collision injured four people, but I was the worst offender, suffering colossal multiple injuries (pneumothorax of the left lung, a ruptured spleen, liver tissue damage, a comminuted leg fracture, two broken ribs, a double jaw fracture, a concussion, a hematoma in the frontal lobe of the brain, and blood loss. My body recovered quickly. After 3 months, I returned to work.

It seemed like the worst of my life was already behind me. But no. In 2013 I woke up in the morning with severe pain in my stomach. They called an ambulance and I was hospitalized with a diagnosis of pancreatitis. The pain did not stop, and I spent almost the entire night in utter agony. At 6 morning, I was transferred to the operating room. They managed to leave 45 cm of small intestine, which was connected to the longitudinal portion of the large intestine (middle of the large intestine. It seemed like my life had been saved, but not completely. I was slowly dying.

My intestines couldn't provide me with what I needed to survive, and the clogged half of my colon was poisoning me, creating severe intoxication. I weighed 36 kg. We tried various therapies and approaches, but nothing produced a positive result. Soon, news came of a possible intestinal enlargement through enteroplasty at the Institute of Surgery and Transplantology named after Shalimov in Kyiv, where I was brought back to life. In 2014 Professor Todurov I. M. performed a miracle with his own hands, and now I am here. They reconnected half of the large intestine and enlarged the small intestine. The length of the small intestine — 68 cm.

But and this is not yet the end. My physical condition will never be viable. I am 100%  — disabled. As a result, I am almost completely isolated and falling out of life. Due to a short intestine, I have developed diseases such as osteoporosis, epilepsy, gastritis etc. In March of this year, during an epileptic seizure, I broke 5 my vertebrae. Thank God, there were people who could help me emotionally, financially, and physically.

I'm only 31 year old. I have a son. I dream of becoming a full-fledged, loving mother again.

My recovery is going quite well. I'm starting to get back into shape. But my well-being and my strength are directly dependent on parenteral nutrition and medications. If they are not taken on a permanent basis, then you can forget about life. And in our country, medicine, unfortunately, has long since become a business. I myself am not yet in able to provide for myself such a living.

In month for medications and formulas, regular tests and medical equipment costs up to 15 000 UAH. This amount is currently insurmountable for me. I just got out of bed, started moving and developing. I don't want to go back!

This is my chance at life. A very ordinary life, with its the joy of walks and fresh air, simple walking, and the ability to smile without pain.

Please support my hope and efforts!
