Veronika was born on 11 May 2005. The child was brought by ambulance from the maternity hospital to the newborn intensive care unit of the regional children's hospital, where the diagnosis was made: congenital malformation: atresia of the ileum, ileostomy (Y-shaped ileo-ileal anastomosis). Cystic fibrosis. Low congenital intestinal obstruction. There, almost at once, Veronika was operated on — the atretic ileum was resected. Because of «short bowel» syndrome «the child's condition worsened and she began to lose weight. As the malnutrition progressed, a staged operation was carried out on 1.06/ 2005 — closure of the separate ileostomy with the formation of a Y-shaped ileo-ileal anastomosis. In the infants' department cystic fibrosis was diagnosed. On 20.10.2005 she was operated on under multi-component intravenous anaesthesia — extraperitoneal closure of the ileostomy. From her first year of life she was prescribed creon 10 000, one and a half capsules three times a day.

In 2006 in smears, Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found. Treatment began with inhalations with the antibiotic colomicin, which was ineffective . Ceftazidime, ceftum, hepacef, sulbactomax, and many others were then prescribed, which again did not produce any results, and the patient's condition worsened. Hepabene, Essentiale, Ursofalk, and Betargin were also prescribed due to poor liver function tests. Sembite and  other intestinal medications were also prescribed. For immune support, vitamin E, tocopherol acetate, cedipharmaton, Omega, and various expectorants were prescribed.

As of today, she is taking Creon 10 000 in amount of 18 capsules per day and many other medications.
For further treatment, just for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a medication costing over 34 000 UAH per month is required, not to mention all the other medications. Veronica's mother cannot  work, as her second child is seriously ill and also requires serious, expensive treatment. Only the father works, and there are not enough funds for treatment. We appeal to all caring people with a request for help.
Veronica is a cheerful, happy child. She does well in school, dances, and studies English, even though she is in individual tutoring. When she was born, we weren't given much of a chance, but science is advancing, and we really want to believe that we with your help will finally overcome our illness.
