«Our son Daniil has brain damage. He is now 7,5 years old and cannot hold objects in his hands, does not sit, does not turn over, does not speak and sees very badly. The doctors say the damage was caused by a birth injury. As soon as Danechka was born he did not cry, and the doctors put a great many tubes into his body to keep his vital processes going. The first examinations showed extensive cerebral oedema. And after it a terrible diagnosis: multicystic encephalomalacia.
We fought for our child's health for several long years. There were medicines and massage and difficult rehabilitation exercises, trips to centres and abroad; stem cells were administered and we met American and Chinese specialists.
We managed to get rid of the severe epileptic seizures, which not only made life impossible but also damaged brain cells again and again. The child's condition stabilised. And for a very long time, almost 7 years, we fought for sleep, of which there was practically none at night.
Now Danechka sleeps at night, he is not tormented by epileptic seizures and we have learnt to eat from a spoon.
We very much want to free him from the spastic tension in almost all the muscles of his body, which is too painful and restricts his movement. Because of the muscle tension it is hard for him to fall asleep or even to lie down. The medicines the doctors prescribe to be taken by mouth do not help against it. The only way out we have found is the muscle-relaxing Dysport (a botulinum toxin preparation). When it is injected into the muscles it gives the child six months of relaxed arms and legs. We can lie down, and we even smile.
We love our son very much and ask you to help us buy an ampoule of Dysport, which costs almost 6 thousand hryvnias, to ease his pain."

"Thank you so much "Pchelka" for helping us obtain the medication "Dysport". We injected Danya into his muscles. Most of it went into his arm muscles, as they were more spastic!
A week after the injection, my arms felt noticeably better. Although they still can't straighten completely, they are much more flexible.
To consolidate the effect of the medication, they need to be properly stretched. A rehabilitation specialist can best do this. At the Odessa House with an Angel, we were once again turned away due to epileptic activity in the EEG.
However, a new rehabilitation center in Boryspil responded positively to our request. The center agreed to take Danechka for rehabilitation and billed us for the treatment. Therefore, we are once again asking for help to consolidate the effect of the medication and complete the course at this center. Thank you."

News from Natalia, Daniil's mother: "The results of the stem cell injections became noticeable within a few weeks. Daniil has stopped coughing and is feeling well. He undergoes therapeutic exercises and massage every day under the supervision of specialists. And in his free time, he rests and breathes fresh air.".

Here's what mom wrote to us:
"Danya developed a fever the day after he arrived. We don't know the cause yet, maybe it's a toothache.
The results so far are as follows: Danya has started sleeping better, at least he sleeps well at night, but he still sleeps a little during the day for about 15-20 minutes. We've developed his legs and arms—they can straighten better. Although they're still very toned, they can be straightened and bent. Danya has started making new sounds like «boo», «agu», but for now they're only heard when he's fussy, whining, or calling for food in the morning. We were told we'd have to wait a couple of months to see results from the cells. They need time to take root and establish or renew connections. Although, other parents say you might not see such results after the first course, only after a repeat. Well, we'll see. Anyway, we've signed up for a repeat course for August."

Mom told us about Danya's condition:
"Danya is responding well to all the treatments, although she cries during acupuncture and some other procedures, but what can you do? You have to be patient. We are very happy that the 2 stem cell transplant was completed without complications and with virtually no fever. The procedure doesn't take long, about 15-20 minutes, a small injection in the back, but afterward you have to lie down for half a day, and then 5 for days in a row they'll be putting her on IVs. Tomorrow we have another transplant, and we really hope it goes just as well. There are a lot of procedures, but Danya is doing great!
We're having a hard time with the IVs. Dan's veins are so thin that they can't always be reached. And afterward, he's also fidgety with his hand, so we have to sit with him and hold him tightly so he doesn't struggle."

News from China about Dan:
"The next day after his arrival, Dan had a short examination, an MRI of his brain. The head doctor suggested that Dan needs a bypass. He says Dan has a lot of excess fluid in his head. We need to consult with our doctors; I've never heard anything like that from them before.
We've started working with Dan. The whole day is spent doing exercises, 10-12 classes per day. They insert needles into the head, face, neck, and hands, use dichosus needles, administer medication injections, prescribe special herbal teas, various hand, foot, and head massages, exercise therapy, and more. Basically, I have to run from the first floor to the 3 floor all day. But that's good; by 4 day, we've gotten used to it, and Danya manages to sleep at night because he's so tired.
28 the first batch of stem cells will be injected. We're really hoping for good results. We'll let you know how it went later.
There are a lot of Slavs here; somewhere 10 our children are currently undergoing treatment at this clinic. The procedures are printed in Russian on the doors; there are probably always a lot of Russians here. There are several translators who help us navigate everything. The city is very big. The buildings are very tall, the roads are very wide, and the amount of construction around us is beyond our wildest dreams. The food isn't good for us—it's too spicy. We feed Danil only domestic food. We cook it in a steamer, just like at home. "

"We're still getting used to it; it's hard to get used to the time change. We can't get into the rhythm of China. The journey was exhausting - 3 flight, one Moscow-Beijing 8 hours was really tough. By the end, my head even started spinning. And Danya started acting up in Beijing. We spent the entire day undergoing checkups today. And tomorrow, starting 9.00 the procedures begin."

Information from Danya's parents:
"We've already bought the tickets, ordered the visas, and are waiting in a week for them to be ready. We're scheduled to fly 17 next month. The flight was long – via Moscow and Beijing, the total journey took 23 hours. Tickets cost 2230 dollars (6 roundtrip tickets for 3 passengers) + 605 China Airlines tickets from Beijing to Taiyuan (6 roundtrip tickets for 3 passengers), for a total of 2835 dollars. We also paid for visas at the Chinese Consulate for both of us and the child – 2250 UAH. Thank you to everyone who supports us and sympathizes with us. "

Mom writes that everything is still the same. Danya is still putting on nightly concerts, and he's been teething since August. They started him on the medication prescribed at the clinic – Topiromax. It's an anticonvulsant, but so far there's no noticeable effect. 3 It's already been a week.

At the end of November, Danya got a free Dysport injection in his arms – his turn came up at the clinic. Now he needs intensive hand exercises. In November and December, the parents took their son to Simferopol for rehabilitation at their own expense, to the clinic "Darina", where Chinese specialists perform massage and acupuncture. Dania is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Odessa: massage, stretching, exercise therapy, speech therapy, and acupuncture.
Dania has become a little calmer, but he still doesn't sleep at night. His back has strengthened a bit, but he can't sit up. He eats with a spoon, but doesn't have much of an appetite; his mother forces food into his mouth. He also sleeps poorly during the day, falling asleep for 2-3 once 10-15 minutes. The tone of his adductor muscles has increased. According to his mother, there are no other changes in his development. We hope that Daniil's mother will soon write to us about more significant changes in his development.

Daniil's mother expresses her deep gratitude to everyone who supports them both financially and emotionally and reports:
«By summer, the child has gained a little weight, his cheeks have become rounder, but he is still gaining weight slowly. But he's grown well in height—in the last couple of months he's grown by 3-4 cm. This is a lot for us, since after all the hospitals and intensive care, Danya barely grew for a year and a half, and then he started growing centimeters. We're currently negotiating with neurosurgeons. We still need several tests to determine whether the child needs surgery to insert a shunt into the head of the head. We're continuing the Chinese herbal therapy prescribed after the first course. Massages and exercises are daily without interruption. And we're having trouble sleeping at night again; sleep just won't get better.».
