23 May 2018 in 12:00 a ceremonial handover will take place at the Odessa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital in the neurosurgery and general surgery departments (Ak. Vorobyova St., 3)of the SONOCA ultrasonic dissector 300.
SONOCA 300 — a device that covers all areas of ultrasound surgical applications. The ultrasonic surgical unit is designed for all types of surgical interventions, including ultrasonic cutting, ultrasonic coagulation (ultrasonic scalpel), ultrasonic dissection, and wound treatment. This allows for minimal blood loss and damage to healthy organ tissue. The regional children's hospital lacks this equipment. It was crucial to replace the outdated scalpel with gentle surgical interventions using ultrasound!
A year ago in March 2017 staff of the Charitable Foundation "Little Bee" initiated a fundraiser to purchase a SONOCA ultrasonic dissector 300.
Together with volunteers, we organized the campaign "A Handful of Kindness". The goal of the campaign was to collect plastic bottle caps in exchange for money to purchase a SONOCA ultrasonic dissector. 300 Hundreds of thousands of people took part in this important charity event. Many different organizations, restaurants, cafes, and hospitals joined the campaign, not only from Odessa and the Odessa region, but also from Kherson, Nova Kakhovka, and Kyiv.
The "Handful of Kindness" Odesa schoolchildren and doctors from the Children's Clinical Hospital (ODKB) took a particularly responsible approach to the campaign. Thanks to our campaign, many schoolchildren conceived and implemented a number of environmental projects, which is also important. Together, we managed to raise and pay for 106 524 UAH.
Considering the importance of the equipment and its high cost 64 401 €, the staff of the Charitable Foundation "Little Bee" negotiated an additional discount with the supplier, amounting to approximately 17 000 €.
In 2017 the German foundation Ein Herz für Kinder awarded a second grant to our foundation in the amount of 20 000 € (in 2016 a grant project from a German foundation fully paid for the blood cell separator "Fresenius" and consumables in the amount of 56 000€).
The remaining amount of 950 000 UAH was paid by a charitable foundation "It's easy to help".
