We are often asked: what equipment is needed for the regional children's clinical hospital? hospital. We offer options, and sponsors choose and transfer funds for the purchase of this or that equipment. Thank you so much for your civic commitment and understanding that it's high time to develop OUR medicine in OUR country.
Cleanliness and disinfection of operating rooms and intensive care units play a significant role in patient recovery, so we asked Svetlana Grigoryevna Dikal, Deputy Chief Physician for Nursing, to elaborate on such a vital purchase for the hospital as recirculators.
"The operating room of the Emergency Trauma and Surgical Care Department consists of two rooms and a pre-operative room.
First Operating Room 30m2 on 2 table. Surgical procedures are performed here. Vital indications: acute abdominal pathologies, trauma, abdominal organ ruptures with major bleeding, limb injuries, multiple open injuries, and surgical interventions in newborns. This operating room also provides surgical treatment for children with infectious diseases (chickenpox, measles, acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, etc.) and other purulent-septic conditions associated with surgical pathology. Up to 15-20 people can work in the operating room at the same time.
Second operating room – for neurosurgical operations: planned (hydrocephalus, tumors, etc.) and emergency surgeries (traumatic brain injury, spinal injury). Area 22 m2, 1 table. Up to work 10-12 people.
The operating room operates 24/7.
In the pre-operative room (18m2) disinfection and sterilization of a large number of surgical instruments and preparation of staff for surgical interventions (3 sinks) take place.
The air in all these rooms carries a huge bacterial and viral load!!! This is especially true for patients with open cavities during surgery: an open abdomen, skull, etc. This has an extremely negative effect on organ tissue. Multiple antibiotic resistance is common.
The same problem exists in the dressing room and ENT room of the emergency department. Traumatology and surgical care, which provides care to the entire pediatric population of Odessa and the Odessa region.
Currently, basic air purification is carried out using bactericidal irradiators followed by ventilation, but this is insufficient and not always possible with a large number of patients. Recirculators, which operate in continuous air disinfection and purification mode, perform a much better job. Thanks to the presence of exhaust fans, dust filters, and ozone-free bactericidal lamps in recirculators, the incidence of hospital-acquired bacterial and viral infections among patients and the incidence of staff illnesses is significantly reduced.".
2 and 10 In February, the foundation paid for two bactericidal recirculators - one for the pediatric ward for young children and one for the operating room of the emergency trauma and surgical care department of the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital. Amount 27314,92 UAH. Expense reports can be found on our website in the section "Reports".
