This fair will once again demonstrate how beautiful and rich autumn is in its gifts. And her generosity can be compared with the kindness and responsiveness of people.

«Good afternoon» is being held with the goal of calling on people to unite and purchase vital medical equipment for children in our city — a blood cell separator «Fresenius».

Let's make medicine at a high level here instead of raising colossal sums for treatment for children abroad!

Why a blood cell separator is vital «Fresenius»:

An effective method for restoring the required platelet count in a child's blood is the infusion of a so-called platelet concentrate (platelets isolated from a donor's  blood) into the blood. After chemotherapy, it drops to critical levels, making the risk of bleeding and death very high. In such cases, the solution is platelet replacement transfusion, which can only be obtained by separating the blood of a screened donor. This process is complex and requires expensive equipment — cell blood separators.

Donor blood is needed daily for children in the oncohematology department. Children remain in the wards both on weekends and on holidays, when blood transfusion stations are not open. They offer platelet concentrates and donor testing if purchasing platelet concentrates is not possible. Preserving platelet concentrates for future use (in unlike blood, for example, which has a shelf life of 30-35 days) is not very effective. Moreover, the donor's certificate for admission to separation is valid for 24 hours; without it, performing separation — is a crime for the doctor.

Thanks to the blood cell separator «Fresenius» it will be possible:
— a 24-hour supply of high-quality platelet concentrate;
— an alternative method of stem cell collection;
— a permanent donor bank.
