Hello, my name is Ekaterina. I am the mother of a little boy, Ilyusha.
On May 7th 2018 we had a joyful event – our long-awaited son, Ilyusha, was born. The birth was very difficult. Ilyusha didn't cry at birth, and he was immediately taken from the delivery room to the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit for Newborns at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital.
The baby was in intensive care on very strong medications and connected to a ventilator. The doctors didn't promise anything, only told us to wait. We waited and prayed for the life of our beloved baby!!! Our son didn't give up; he fought and really wanted to live. On May 25th, Ilyusha was transferred to the nursing unit, and on June 8th, we were discharged home.
And then our fight for recovery began. The doctor diagnosed cerebral palsy, double hemiplegia with severe, persistent motor impairments. Ilyusha has now started crawling. He doesn't walk or talk yet. He babbles a little and makes sounds like MA, PA, BA. He loves playing with toys and is exploring the world around him.
Every 1,5 month, we undergo regular checkups at the Dnipro City Children's Clinical Hospital. Our child receives therapeutic massage and exercise therapy. He goes to the pool and works with a speech therapist. We visited the international rehabilitation clinic in Truskavets three times. We completed nine courses at the Ipocenter in Kharkiv, and we attended rehabilitation in Kyiv and Piešťany, Slovakia.
Ilyushka's development is progressing, but it's not enough. He needs at least 6 rehabilitation courses per year, but our family doesn't have the resources to continue it. Only my husband works, and his salary can't cover the costs of our son's treatment.
We are truly hoping for the support of caring and kind-hearted people.
Thanks to your help, we will be able to go to rehabilitation, which will give Ilyusha a chance at recovery. Thank you all for your support!!!
Sincerely, Ilyusha's mom and dad.
