In September 2019 Ira was diagnosed with – acute hybrid T-myeloid leukemia. This is a very rare type of blood cancer.
The child spent almost a month undergoing treatment in Odessa, and for over two months now – in Kyiv, at OKHMATDET. After a course of chemotherapy, she developed a very severe complication – acute pancreatitis, which the girl overcame. Ira is still battling aspergillosis (a type of fungus), which has affected her lungs and one kidney.
30 On October, the doctor discharged Irina home with the words: ''We can't help you any more.''. And 31 On October, the girl developed a pulmonary hemorrhage.
11 The days in intensive care were 11 days of hell. No one believed our daughter would cope, but she did. Irochka – is a real fighter.
The child was transferred to the hematology department. Ira is now receiving antifungal therapy and is also working to restore her atrophied leg muscles.
Ira's bone marrow remission from her underlying disease has been in 18 remission since October! At the consultation, the doctors said that such children rarely go into remission. And if it does happen, it's for a very short time.
Irochka urgently needs a bone marrow transplant! Give this child a chance at life!
Sincerely, the Semeryuk family.

Thank you to everyone who helped Irochka. Unfortunately, the disease proved stronger.
May the family have the strength to cope with such grief!

Hello!
We had a consultation today. We decided to do the transplant here in Kyiv at OKHMATDET. Tomorrow, Dad will have his blood tests done and will undergo a more detailed examination. He will most likely be a donor. So, the fundraiser can close.
Sincerely, Natalia, Irina Semeryuk's mother.

Hello! From November until early March, Irochka was treated for aspargillosis (a complication after chemotherapy). 17 On March I had lung surgery. Since 14 April my daughter started chemotherapy.
Today is 4 May. Ira had a follow-up CT scan. Based on the results of this CT scan and post-chemotherapy tests, a consultation will be held at which the doctors will decide how to treat Irochka further. The consultation is expected to be on 6-7 May. I don't want to predict anything, but I'll write immediately after the consultation. The department has already written prescriptions for a bone marrow transplant. The donor, as we are tentatively thinking, will be the father.
Sincerely, Natalia, Ira's mother.

Good afternoon.
About two weeks ago, the doctors told me that my child had one remaining lesion in his lungs and that it needed to be surgically removed. Then, a follow-up CT scan and a puncture would be necessary, and then there would be the possibility of a transplant at OKHMATDET in Ukraine. I, of course, agreed, and 17 Ira had lung surgery in March. Everything seemed to be going well. But then, in parallel with our preparations, the Ministry of Health allocated funds for Turkey. I understand that with our aspergillosis (and no one will pay for it), we can't go to Turkey. Yesterday, they called me to a consultation and said they couldn't perform the transplant here because the Ministry of Health had already sent the money to Medical Park. I immediately went to the Ministry of Health and wrote a refusal of Turkey. Now we're waiting. They really hope that OKHMATDET will help us.
Sincerely, Natalia, Ira's mother.

Ira had a puncture today, and we'll have the results tomorrow. There's positive progress with her lungs. Ira is working with a rehabilitation therapist. We're seeing results. She's already gained four kilograms, and she needs to gain another six. We don't spend much money on medications right now, about 500 UAH per week. More goes to special nutrition - Modulen.
Sincerely, Natalia, Ira's mother.

Good afternoon!
After the first protocol (chemotherapy course), Ira had serious complications, such as pancreatitis, mucositis, and the most difficult — aspergillosis, which is a direct contraindication for further treatment of leukemia.
Currently (24.01.2020), Irochka is in remission from her underlying condition. We are treating aspergillosis. According to doctors, its treatment can last from three months to five years!
We are restoring atrophied leg muscles. It's been a month since Irochka was allowed to go for walks outside. At first, all walks were in a wheelchair, but with each passing day my girl took more and more steps, and since 17 January, we've been walking without a stroller.
Our whole family prays to God for continued remission and for us to have time to cure aspergillosis and perform a transplant.
Thank you so much for your help and support.
Sincerely, the Irina Semeryuk family.

Good afternoon!
As of today, the aspergillosis test results are unchanged (4 stage). Regarding the underlying disease (leukemia), — there is only bone marrow remission. The leg muscles have atrophied. After 10 massages and exercise, the condition of her legs has improved. Irochka can walk a hundred meters on her own. Her appetite is good, and her head is clear.
We've been allowed outside every day for two weeks now. And it's wonderful! We spend this time together (dad, mom, and Irochka), pushing our daughter in a stroller, fooling around, talking about everything, discussing further treatment, and DREAMING about how we'll live AFTER...
At the beginning of the treatment, the doctor told us not to make any plans, to live only in the present... I think he's wrong; you can't live without dreams.
Unfortunately, in our situation, a full recovery is only possible with a bone marrow transplant. Currently, a transplant is impossible due to aspargylosis. But we believe that God will help us, and we will manage to cure the lungs before the blasts begin to grow...
Thank you very much to everyone who responded, supported, and helped our family.
Sincerely, the Irina Semeryuk family.
