Sasha was born at 39 week, the birth was natural, nothing foreshadowed trouble. On the 4 day after birth, a BCG was administered. On that night, the baby slept, snoring. In the morning, on the mother's question «What's wrong with the baby?» the pediatrician answered this: «This is a characteristic of you, congenital stridor. It will pass by year.» And the baby and mother «were safely» discharged from the maternity hospital. At home, something strange began to happen to the baby.
The girl stopped sleeping: she wasn't cranky, she wasn't restless, she simply stared for long periods at those around her. There were also problems with feeding: she greedily devoured food — and then immediately, crying. With a fever 38 and diagnosed with an acute respiratory viral infection, the baby was admitted to the hospital. After a week of treatment, the baby's condition only worsened. After another IV drip, little Sasha became very ill and she was transferred to the intensive care unit, where she spent a whole 10 day without her mother.
The head of intensive care's preliminary diagnosis was — meningitis. Fear was visible in the doctors' eyes, fear of not losing a child who had been here, in the hospital, for a week now with an incorrect diagnosis, with deteriorating conditions.
For 1,5 months in intensive care, Sasha was given all the available antibiotics («and underwent a complete debridement»(in medical terms), but improvement was slow.
After the hospital, the little one became restless, and sleep — only with her mother nearby and in her arms. It was impossible for the mother to leave the girl's side; she always sensed it, started crying, and then she would immediately burst into crying, choking, and gasping for breath. Painful Actovegin injections, massage courses, and hourly medications against the backdrop of a terrible case of dysbiosis — that's how the sick child's days passed. The mother and daughter tirelessly worked on neurological treatment; the tone and direction in treatment of the disease were determined exclusively by neurologists.

But, unfortunately all this did not produce any noticeable positive dynamics. In connected with this, the mother and child contacted Kyiv to see immunologists. In the examination revealed a neuroinfection in chronic form: Chronic HHV-7 infection in a state of reactivation with damage to the central nervous system due to a deficiency of RCT cells. The first episode — was in the neonatal period. The mother was told that the meningoencephalitis was viral in nature, and not bacterial, so the treatment administered in the acute period was inappropriate because it did not include antiviral drugs. Now this virus is present in the body, interfering with the child's and further normal development.
The girl now requires treatment with expensive antiviral drugs. Famvir alone requires 2 tablets for a 180 month of treatment. One package (14 tablets) of this medication costs 965 UAH from medical representatives, and naturally, it's more expensive in pharmacies. According to preliminary estimates, the price of medications for the first two-month course requires 18 thousand UAH.
