It all started unexpectedly, in May. The girl started walking at nights. Then she began having epileptic seizures in her sleep, then her left leg and arm went numb. The diagnosis was terrifying: tuberous sclerosis, or Bourneville disease. —
Vika has already completed the first course of treatment and is currently undergoing a second, but in order to continue treatment, she needs to fly to Israel again in May of this year. Unfortunately, tuberous sclerosis and epilepsy are not quickly cured, but there are already results!
As of the number of seizures has decreased to 3−5 once every week, while previously they reached 58 once every day, but unfortunately, my vision has begun to deteriorate. Vika has practically returned to a normal life. She's started walking again, writing, learning letters, drawing, and is even trying to roller skate!
Specialists from Israel are giving her hope for a full recovery. But this requires flying to Israel every six months for 5 years, for checkups and prescriptions for subsequent courses of treatment. Vika's parents can't cope with this distress on their own, so they're turning to all caring people for help. See ways to help here.

Thank you to everyone who helped with Vika's treatment. Thanks to your support, funds have been raised for the expensive medication "Sabrilan", which will last for two years of treatment. The medication for the first six months of treatment has been purchased and given to the girl's mother.

"Good afternoon, Dear friends! I apologize for the long silence. Vika's condition is currently stable, she has no seizures, only slight tremors throughout her body occur during sleep.
Unfortunately, we never made it to Israel for our next checkup, but we're still taking our medications. We had checkups in Kyiv and Odesa. The MRI showed that the prostates in the brain have stopped growing (they're no longer enlarging). And that's a very good indicator.
Vikusya finished second grade, She's doing well in school. The girl is still a little irritable (consequences "Sabril"), but overall she feels fine.
We contact Israeli specialists via Skype, they say, that if Vika continues taking the medication for another 2x-3x years, that is, there is a CHANCE that Vika will be able to live a full life. And not until 25-30 years (as they said), but until old age!!!
Thank you so much for your support and understanding! With gratitude and respect, the Reshetnik family.

Unfortunately, Vika has not been able to attend the examination as fundraising is progressing very slowly. All the funds the girl's parents manage to raise themselves are going towards medications, as stopping the medication is not an option (a relapse is possible).
Vika has started school (2 grade), but her condition is hardly stable – she suffers from daily headaches, a rash all over her body, and frequent dizziness. Her vision is gradually deteriorating. Vika complains of eye pain, gets tired very quickly, is irritable, and is sometimes aggressive. She will likely have to be homeschooled to ensure constant parental supervision.
She has no epileptic seizures at the moment, but she often twitches in her sleep. She also experiences frequent mood swings, and recently, she often cries for no apparent reason.
Vika urgently needs to go to Israel for a checkup as soon as possible. Otherwise, all her previous efforts could be wasted. The only question now is money. The Reshetnik family is asking for help from all who care for Vika and is very grateful to everyone who is already helping!

Unfortunately, Vika was unable to travel to Israel in June as planned because the required amount of money was not raised. The trip was planned for the end of August, and we hope to raise the funds by then. Vika's condition is currently stable. She has no seizures, but her vision has worsened, she is becoming forgetful, and her bouts of aggression and tearfulness have become frequent. Vika has developed even more of the characteristic spots on her body and a rash all over her body. She also experiences frequent headaches and dizziness. Therefore, she urgently needs to get examined!

"I am once again appealing to you, people who care about the suffering of others! You're already familiar with our story, but I'll repeat: my daughter Vika has a rare disease – tuberous sclerosis (Bourneville disease). She's been sick for two years, and we're receiving treatment in Israel, as this disease is considered incurable in Ukraine. Israeli doctors gave us a chance, and thanks to you, we were able to take advantage of it. But, unfortunately, the treatment will be very long and expensive, and we need to fly for checkups once a year to prevent Vika from relapsing. Every six months, we buy additional medications, which cost more than 20000 hryvnia. We were supposed to fly with Vikusia 7 on June, but unfortunately, the flight was postponed because we can't pay the bill they sent us. It's 193690 hryvnia (excluding airfare and accommodations). PEOPLE, my dears, help my little girl live a full life!!! We couldn't do it without you!!!"

Thanks to the help of caring residents of Odessa, Vika completed her treatment in time in Israel. Now Vika is practically back to normal life. She goes to school, hangs out with her friends, and studies. In August 2014 Vika wasa guest at the festival «Dari Dobro» for children treated for severe illnesses.
