«The most wonderful moment in a mother's life is the birth of her child. But my happiness did not last long. Our long-awaited daughter was born prematurely, but in spite of that we were discharged from the maternity hospital to go home — to get stronger and grow.
Very soon Mashenka stopped feeding, the colour of her skin changed from pink to pale blue, and convulsions soon followed. Our daughter was taken to the intensive care unit of the Reznik hospital. From 18 July to this day the doctors have been fighting for our child's life. Mashenka and I are now already in city children's hospital No. 3. The doctors' main diagnosis is the herpes virus. A severe viral infection that provokes serious disturbances in the work of the brain.
Every day thousands of hryvnias go on buying the necessary medicines. But the virus can be defeated; the main thing is to continue treatment. Even with a diagnosis such as Masha's there is a chance of a full and healthy life.»
The child's mother, Olha Protopopova, asks for charitable help for her daughter, as the family's means do not allow them to pay for Mashenka's further treatment.

Today, Masha's parents told us that she's become an angel. Unfortunately, the disease proved stronger than the little girl. Thank you to everyone who helped Maria and supported her parents!

Thank you to everyone who responded and helped little Masha fight for her life! Masha will continue to receive treatment through the city program. Since December 2017 the City Children's Clinical Hospital, where the child is being treated, has been provided with the necessary medications. The remaining funds, amounting to 1836, 90 UAH, received for Masha will be donated to Dmitry Sup's treatment.

Mashenka was disconnected from the ventilator. The girl has been breathing on her own for 5 days. Her condition is stabilizing.

Mashenka remains in the intensive care unit. Currently, doctors describe her condition as stable-serious. The girl is not breathing on her own. Attempts to disconnect her from the ventilator have not yet been successful.
Nastya is awaiting an MRI scan, which is not an easy task in her case, given the need for constant oxygen. We are awaiting the doctors' comments after the examination.
