During the night Dima had a haemorrhage in the stomach. His condition was extremely grave. The intensive care doctors did everything they could but, unfortunately, the illness proved stronger. At 6 in the evening Dima's heart stopped.

"The chemotherapy has been given, now the counts are very low..
I am tired of hospital. I hoped I would be able to go home from Monday, but a cough appeared and a temperature above 38 - it turned out to be bilateral pneumonia. 
My arms hurt very badly, they cannot even be touched. Sometimes my legs too. The only way out is to endure it. We all very much hope that this chemotherapy will help and the pain will go!"

About 80% blasts were found in Dima's blood - an early isolated relapse. As of today he has already been given the chemotherapy. Now comes the period when the cell counts fall. In the middle of May Dima was to have travelled to St Petersburg, to the Gorbacheva clinic, but the trip had to be postponed, since remission is needed for it. 
The pain is the same as before - very severe, and it has to be endured.

Dima has been through 3/8 of the Hyper-CVAD protocol and after his cell counts rose he went to St Petersburg. He was there almost a month and was examined at the Gorbacheva clinic in St Petersburg. Dima has been at home for 2 weeks now. He feels all right; the only trouble is severe pain in his arms and back; painkillers work badly, so it has to be endured.

Dima continues to receive high-dose chemotherapy under the Hyper-CVAD protocol. Course 3/8 of high-dose chemotherapy is in progress. Hormones have now been given and the period when the cell counts fall is under way. Weakness, aching legs, a temperature of 37,3.

For two weeks Dima was prepared for high-dose chemotherapy and given large doses of hormones. 
Today is the second day of the chemotherapy (3 days in all: 1-Methotrexate, 2,3-Cytosar). 
Dima feels bad, the temperature persists.

Dima will stay in the regional city hospital for about another month. He is now having a course of high-dose chemotherapy divided into 2 stages. In the doctor's opinion the course is complex and hard.

Dima's bone marrow has started working and his counts have begun to rise gradually. But no sooner had it become easier than tonsillitis set in. His condition is grave again: a raised temperature, an inflamed throat and stomatitis.

At present Dima is in leukopenia. His blood counts are very poor. He feels poorly too. Today he was granted first-group disability status. The documents for a quota have been submitted to the Ministry of Health. Dima sends an enormous thank you to everyone who supports him!

The bill for the bone marrow transplant has arrived from the clinic in Antalya. For Dima to have the transplant and all the accompanying procedures, 193000 US dollars have to be raised.
