Five-year-old Lenya Muratkov, in his battle against a serious illness, underwent a complex operation to remove a cerebellar tumor. He only has a few more chemotherapy rounds left to complete, but 9  his parents no longer have the funds for further treatment.

Here's what Vera Yuryevna Muratkova, Lyonya's mother, wrote to us:

Hello, dear foundation!

We are contacting you with a plea for help. My name is Vera Yuryevna Muratkova, I am a mother of three sons, from Ukraine, Odessa region, city of Artsyz. Leonid, the youngest of the sons, grew up to 5 years old as a happy, healthy, and cheerful boy. He loved animals, collected dinosaurs, and enjoyed drawing and sculpting.

On one ill-fated morning, 20 March 2013, he became unwell at nursery school (there was severe nausea and vomiting). From that moment our life as parents became a fight to save our little son. At the district hospital he was treated for poisoning; the Odesa C T scan showed a haemorrhage in the cerebellum and a suspected tumour; a week at the Kyiv institute of neurosurgery, where they could not give an exact diagnosis either, because the haemorrhage made it impossible to see whether there was a tumour; a cavernoma was suspected (a vascular malformation). We were advised to go home and have an MRI in 2−3 weeks. But my husband insisted on flying to Israel for an exact examination. On 4 April we flew to the Herzliya Medical Center clinic, where we saw a haematologist, a cardiologist, a neurologist and an ophthalmologist, but when the MRI was done the diagnosis was made: medulloblastoma (cancer) in the cerebellum. For us it was an indescribable shock. The clinic where we were examined contacted the neurosurgeon Professor Shlomi Constantini, who agreed to operate on us out of turn, and on 15 April the tumour, more than 4 cm across, was removed. He did the impossible and removed all of it. The money for the operation was raised in 4 days. We were helped by our home town of Artsyz, the neighbouring district centres, trade unions, professional bodies, schools, the nursery school and our relatives. All in all we had enough money for the operation and for 31 sessions of irradiation with 6 courses of chemotherapy.

Mom — Vera Yuryevna Muratkova — works as the head of the bus station in Artsyz, average salary 1200 UAH; Father — Muratkov Leonid Dmitrievich — Deputy Head of the Inspectorate — Head of the Tatarbunary Branch of the Saratov State Tax Inspectorate, average salary 4125 UAH. The parents are raising 3 sons, the eldest, Vladislav, 19 years old — a student, the middle one, Valentin — a student 9 of the th grade, and the youngest, Lenechka 5 years old.

Starting in the second half of August, we will begin treatment for 9 chemotherapy. We are desperately short of funds for this treatment. The clinic bill is 38 280 thousand euro, and we need another 25 thousand euro. We need help with our son's treatment.

We are asking for help from you. We also need volunteers to raise funds, because we have been fighting for ourselves until today and are fighting for our son's life. But we can't cope on our own right now . Help!

We posted information on social media and opened a group. But it's not working well yet. There's no one to take care of it. My husband and oldest son (are working (during the holidays), and I with our child. We are currently in Ukraine.

Please help! We would be grateful for any support! Timofey is the only child in the
