The actions of his alert friends saved his life. They called an ambulance and until it arrived, they performed CPR and called his parents.
The ambulance took the child to City Clinical Hospital No. 1, where he underwent surgery, removing his spleen and stopping the internal bleeding.
Skeletal traction was applied to the left leg and with diagnosis — multiple trauma (open head injury, multiple skull fractures, subdural and epidural hematomas of the brain, severe brain contusion, pulmonary contusion, splenic rupture, and fractures with displacement of both bones of the left tibia), he was transferred to the intensive care unit.
9 On March 1, Nikita was transferred to the intensive care unit of the regional children's hospital, where he received a tracheostomy and an external fixator for his left leg.
The boy remained in a coma for more than three weeks. And until he still hasn't recovered consciousness. But Nikita is showing positive progress.
Diagnostics by specialists at the Scientific and Practical Rehabilitation Center «Nodus» revealed the presence of alpha rhythm in the brain, photoreactivity of the eyes, and confirmation that the cerebral cortex is alive.
Doctors «Nodus» undertook Nikita's treatment and rehabilitation. The boy has now been transported to the Brovary rehabilitation center «Nodus». This is practically the only clinic in Ukraine that specializes in the treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation of patients with such severe brain injuries.

Due to the number and severity of the injuries, the costs for treatment, tests, and medications are simply enormous. In Odesa alone, over month, more than medications and tests. 200 000 hryvnias were spent on
Unfortunately, our reality is that treatment and care are very expensive, although significantly less than treatment abroad . For transportation to the clinic and the first month of stay in the hospital, the total bill has already reached 250 000 hryvnia, plus additional expenses related to symptomatic treatment of the lungs and oxygen dependence, bedsores, depending on Nikita's current condition. Next, he still has to undergo metal osteoplasty on his left shin.
Yes, Nikita is a gifted boy — a child who, since childhood, lived for music, played the violin and guitar, composed and performed songs. We were happy and proud of his success, but now all this is no longer important; now he's just a child who really needs your help.
In one of his last songs «Wake me up when September ends» (Wake Me Up When September Ends),
which he recorded with friends, he tells the story of a boy whose father died. The boy ran away and locked himself in his room. When they came to him, he only answered through the door: «Wake me up when September ends.».

A huge thank you to all the doctors and staff at the Nodus Clinic for Nikita's recovery. Every day, step by step, everyone helped Nikita return to life.
Of course, we need to actively continue treatment and rehabilitation, but since staying at the center was no longer possible, we returned to Odessa at the end of July.
We are currently visiting doctors and organizing Nikita's further rehabilitation here. We still need to restore walking and speech, combat tremors, and so on.

Nikita continues his rehabilitation and treatment in Brovary. The most important events of the past few days are that Nikita has been transferred to outpatient care. He lives with his mother in an apartment and is taken to classes every day. He continues to learn to walk, does exercises to improve his coordination, and works with a speech therapist. He works very hard and gets tired. He is undergoing courses of medication to improve brain function, coordination, and reduce tremors. Nikita had another throat surgery to remove scars from his tracheostomy and restore tracheal mobility. Everything went well, and the stitches have already been removed. He is gradually gaining weight – already more than 60 kg. Of course, there is still a long way to go, but the main thing is that we are making progress and are gradually moving forward. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your support on this difficult path.

"Nikita is recovering well. According to the doctors, Nikita is doing great, is motivated to exercise, and is happy to do his classes.
During this time, Nikita has started eating independently while sitting at the table in his wheelchair. He has begun speaking more and more clearly. He is working with a speech therapist and repeating exercises on his own.
He has gotten rid of his diaper. He is actively rebuilding his walking skills. First, he used a walking machine, and in the last two weeks, he has been walking with a walker and along a handrail.
I was very happy that last week, when I put on my orthosis, my leg didn't hurt at all. So, the leg has already straightened, and we just need to consolidate the effect.
Nikita's friends visited him; he was very happy and chatted. He wants to return home to Odessa as soon as possible.

"Nikita is doing great.
He spends almost the entire day undergoing procedures at the center, then verticalization, massage, sitting up, and wearing orthoses on his arm and leg for hours—a very painful procedure for Nikita.
Mom is still trying to find time to take him for a walk.
He started gaining weight and now weighs 50 kg (was 45 kg).
Nikita's friends from Odessa came to visit. Nikita even tried to sing along.
Now he's asking (or rather, texting) when and who else will be coming :)"

"Nikita is showing good progress.
The tracheostomy was removed, and he's breathing on his own. He's learning to feed himself with a spoon. The nasogastric tube was also removed.
He's developed an appetite and often shows signs of wanting to eat.
He's trying to speak, but it's not working out very well yet. He's working with a speech therapist.
Over the weekend, we took Nikita for walks outside in his stroller.
The number and intensity of procedures and exercises has increased.
He's at the center for classes practically from morning until lunch, then lunch.
And then back to procedures. He gets tired and complains of pain when they put on the orthoses, which he has to wear for many hours every day.

In the last few days since the surgery, the swelling in his leg has subsided, although they're still administering painkillers. Now that his leg is free of the brace, Nikita is being more actively elevated and placed in a standing position. — They're restoring his ability to stand. We ordered a custom orthosis for his left arm. Nikita has become more sensitive to procedures, getting angry and trying to tear off anything that gets in his way. Mom understands that he's in pain and discomfort and is very worried.
The tracheostomy was removed, — this is another step forward.

"The past week was very busy and challenging for us. Nikita had tests and was prepared for a metal osteoplasty surgery on his leg. On Thursday, Nikita was transferred to a clinic in Obukhov for preparation. He was in the operating room on Friday morning. The surgery was a success. Doctors monitored Nikita's condition for a few more days after the surgery. On Monday, we went home to Brovary.
All these days, Nikita's mother stayed by his side day and night, feeding him, giving him medication, and caring for him.

"How little parents need to be happy…
On Saturday, we asked Nikita to show all his fingers clenched into a fist, then one after another, first one finger, then two, three, four, and five. He succeeded! We even tried playing «rock, paper, scissors». We have contact. Nikita can hear and see us, but he can only respond with one hand for now.
I spoke with Alexander Vasilyevich, and he says this is very good, but we can't relax. We need to move forward and it's important not to waste time. Get the surgery on his leg done quickly, so we can focus more actively on Nikita's recovery.

"13.05 Nikita's subclavian catheter was removed, and his range of motion is improving. Nikita remains with a tracheostomy and nasogastric tube, and a pressure ulcer is being treated. Surgery on his left leg was scheduled for Wednesday. – Metal osteosynthesis. He needs to be removed from the external fixator as soon as possible. But based on the test results, we decided not to take any risks and postpone the surgery for a few days.
When I ask Nikita: "Nikita, Nikita, give me your hand."He raises his right hand and extends it toward me. I think this is a very good sign of recovery.

"Nikita is becoming increasingly active, although he's still mostly using his right arm and leg, and his lungs and bronchi are improving. The good news is that they've stopped his supplemental oxygen, meaning he's breathing on his own, even though the tracheostomy is still in place. On Saturday, when I went to visit Nikita, I leaned over him and had the distinct feeling he was trying to follow me with his eyes. Then, he suddenly raised his hand, grabbed me around the neck, and pulled me toward him, as if hugging me.
More very good news. The children, teachers, and parents of the school "Nadiya" (Educational Complex No.275) held a charity fair, and all proceeds (22671 UAH) were donated to Nikita's treatment. Our family expresses enormous gratitude for your support!"
