Yaroslav Marashlets and his younger brother, Artem, live in a close-knit, though single-parent family. They love and support their mother, Lilia, who has to earn her own living. The boys' father left the family when they were young. The boys grew up, played together, and went to school. Everything was fine until 2016 Yaroslav started having severe headaches.  

13 May 2016 An MRI confirmed the terrifying diagnosis: a brain tumor. At first, doctors couldn't determine the nature of the tumor. The boy underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. But the treatments didn't help, so doctors decided surgery was necessary. Yaroslav's tumor was removed in Kyiv.

After a month in a coma, the boy stood up and relearned how to walk, eat, distinguish objects, and speak. Histology showed that the tumor – was a teratoma, according to doctors, non-malignant.

Yaroslav regained his strength, but he couldn't focus his vision. But all was well; a routine MRI of his brain six months after the surgery revealed nothing.

However, two weeks ago, the boy lost his appetite and lost feeling in his legs. An MRI of other areas of his body revealed multiple metastases in the spine, and his liver was severely damaged. He also suffered pathological fractures of the vertebral bodies 7 and 11 .  

The boy lay at home on a wooden board for almost a week to avoid further damage to his spine.

 After seeing the metastases, doctors initially offered no positive prognosis, but later began to view the situation with hope.

There is some doubt about the correct diagnosis of the tumor's nature, as its behavior is atypical for this type. Specialists Yaroslav's relatives and mother spoke with recommended a repeat biopsy.  

The Soroka Medical Center «in Be'er Sheva, Israel, agreed to the diagnostic procedure after Yaroslav's passport was issued and the sum of» 1700 dollars was paid. To be admitted to Israel for treatment after the diagnostic procedure, a deposit of approximately 60-100 thousand dollars will need to be made into the boy's account. This sum  is unaffordable for a mother raising two children alone and working as a junior nurse in a maternity hospital.

The people who helped Yaroslav last time and rejoiced at his survival are now, along with his family, once again experiencing fear and despair. They are ready to help, but they cannot raise such a large sum for treatment in Israel.…

Yaroslav needs preparation for spinal surgery, and to do this, the development and growth of metastases throughout his body must at least be halted. The boy has a very long and difficult road ahead.  

Chemotherapy was urgently started in Odessa. Radiation therapy cannot be performed in our city due to the outdated equipment.  

Yaroslav – is a very kind and modest boy. He loves to do everything with his own hands. Before the surgery, while his eyesight was still good, he created wonderful sculptures and figurines out of wood. – Candlesticks, vases, animals, and various amazingly beautiful home decor items. He gave them all to loved ones, including, of course, his mother. While he was in the hospital, – he wove bracelets out of rubber bands and gave them to his friends in the hospital ward and his classmates. During his recovery after the surgery, he even got the idea to become a tailor and sew beautiful dresses for his mother and jeans and shirts for his brother. – Last year, as soon as the boy learned to walk again after the surgery, the first thing he did was pick up a vacuum cleaner and said he'd been waiting a long time for the moment when he could help his family around the house.

Yaroslav is very grateful for the help and support of the people who saved and are still saving his life. He wants to live and contribute to this world. He dreams of meeting a beautiful girl and finding his first love, as he is already 14 years old. In the future, he wants to start his own family and raise two children.

To overcome his illness, Yaroslav needs the help of kind, caring people. By saving one person, you give them a future and spare their entire family from despair and grief. Every person in this world is capable of performing a true miracle.…
