Vika Klein became an orphan at less than six years old, after the death of her mother, and at eight years old, a tragic accident during training left the child disabled. Two surgeries in Ukraine on the elbow joint of her left arm did not produce positive results. To return the girl to a full life, a third, very expensive operation is necessary at a foreign clinic.
In April 2012 during training, Victoria broke both arms. At the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, at her right arm was put in a cast. On her left arm, doctors initially did not see a fracture and said it was just a bruise. That night, the child's fever rose to 38,5 and her arm became swollen. Vika was taken back to the hospital. Doctors, after reviewing yesterday's X-rays, determined that there was indeed a fracture, and put a cast on her left arm.
A month later, the cast was removed. Her right arm immediately began to function, but her left — not. For three months, the girl attended specialized classes to restore motor function to her left hand, but there were no results . In August 2012 the child's arm was realigned under anesthesia and a cast was applied for two weeks.
After the cast was removed, the arm bent again, just as it had before the realignment. In October 2012 Vika was brought to Kyiv to the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology. There, she underwent a complex operation: they took a bone from her hip joint and inserted it into her elbow, but her arm still didn't start to function. In 2013 in May, there was a second operation, but the arm function did not recover, and the elbow began to deform.
The two operations and treatment required a lot of effort and money, but Vika's grandmother did not give up hope of curing her child. In November 2013 she contacted foreign clinics with a request for assistance.
At Germany refused, citing the Ukrainian doctors' failure to perform the procedure. Specialists at a Swiss clinic called Vika in for examination and gave her a guarantee that her arm would function, that it would be reassembled and installed with a device. The cost of such treatment is approximately 25 000 dollars.
Vika's grandmother is appealing to all caring people with a request to help rid the girl of her disability and give the child the opportunity to live a full life.
