4 September 2016 was the happiest day of our life — our only, long-awaited daughter came into the world, the daughter we had dreamt of for all of 9 years!
Until she was two Nastiusha grew up a healthy and active child.
The day of 7 November 2018 divided life into before and after...
With complaints of abdominal pain, a high temperature and poor test results, which left us in shock, the child was brought to the oncohaematology department of the regional children's clinical hospital, where a terrible diagnosis was made — acute lymphoblastic leukaemia!
From that moment to this day mother and Nastiusha have been in continuous treatment. In that time the child has been through a great many blocks of chemotherapy (3 of them high-dose) and 10 sessions of radiotherapy (irradiation of the brain).
It is hard to put into words what our daughter and we, her parents, have had to live through in these eighteen months. It has been a time of terrible pain, torment, suffering and tears!!! A daily fight for life!
In September 2019 Nastenka finished her session of radiotherapy. One last block of the final protocol remained, and it was never given. Serious complications began. From the middle of December to this day the child's condition has been worsening, and diagnosis is added to diagnosis: toxic enteropathy, aphthous stomatitis, febrile neutropenia, bilateral hernia, cachexia.
Unfortunately, the diagnostic capabilities of Ukrainian laboratories are not limitless... And our daughter is getting worse and worse... This hell and the child's torment can be stopped, but no longer in Ukraine — only abroad.
Nastiusha can be helped; she needs examination by foreign specialists with treatment to follow. The doctors of the Sant Joan de Deu University Hospital (Hospital Sant Joan de Deu) in Barcelona have agreed to accept us and have issued a bill for 314 thousand euros.
We understand that the sum is enormous, and for an ordinary family quite impossible, so we appeal to everyone with a request to help us save our daughter.
Over the long period of treatment all the family's means have been completely exhausted.
A hard fight and expensive treatment lie ahead of us. We are not giving up, we are not letting our hands fall, and we must do everything possible and impossible so that Nastiusha is well!!!
Sincerely, Halyna, Nastia's mother.
