Thank you to everyone who helped Nikita overcome his illness! Eight years of remission alternated with relapses, but unfortunately, the disease proved stronger. Nikita passed away. 30.12.2018
In May 2014 Nikita completed treatment for his third relapse. (Diagnosis: Stage III alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma of the lumbar region. II class.gr)
After that, we had follow-up MRI and CT scans every three months. It seemed like all the bad stuff was behind us. A year later, in April 2015 a fourth relapse occurred. And it all started again: chemotherapy cycles, surgery. He's now in his fourth postoperative cycle. We have great faith and hope that Nikita will soon recover and will be able to enjoy life again!
It seemed like the worst was already behind us. With courage, Nikita overcame the disease and underwent combined treatment: primary, maintenance, and relapse-preventive chemotherapy courses, 26 radiation therapy courses, and 3 surgery. We were sincerely glad that Nikita was doing well and he was already home, but Soon, he suffered a third relapse. The boy's family doesn't enough money for treatment. After the second relapse, Nikita's parents had to sell their apartment to help their son recover. Now there's nothing left to sell. We really hope that people who read this story will respond and help Nikita complete his treatment.
Nikita has been ill since May 2010 when he was diagnosed with : angiosarcoma of the right lumbar region stage III class group II. At then he was not yet and 4 years old. He is still very young, but already knows what severe, far from childhood pain feels like. From September 2010 to January 2011 the little one underwent a course of chemotherapy according to protocol. With courage, Nikita underwent surgery to remove the tumor.
16 March 2012 Nikita suffered a relapse — a recurrence of the disease. Another surgery. They sent the «slides» and «paraffin blocks» to the Morozov Children's City Clinical Hospital in Moscow for histology. The test results revealed a different diagnosis: alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. The child now undergoes anti-relapse treatment, which includes a stem cell transplant. Even with this diagnosis, Nikita still has a chance for a full and healthy life! and a full and healthy life! Nikita's mother
— Lyudmila Nikolaevna Cheban is asking for charitable assistance for her son, Nikita, as the family's financial situation does not allow them to afford further treatment.

In November 2016 Nikita had routine X-rays. A mass was discovered. We consulted with an oncologist in Kyiv, who suggested surgery and, after the histology results, prescribe treatment. Since the doctor was on vacation and the department was quarantined, we were told to go home and have scheduled scans in February. The scan is scheduled for 17 February. During his time at home, Nikita recovered and started third grade (with individual homeschooling).

26 September 2012 News from Olga Patis:
"Nikita has completed his third block of chemotherapy. He's doing great, smiling, joking, and enjoying any attention. His blood counts are good so far, but they could drop (usually after chemotherapy, they drop on the 9 day), and then he'll need blood. If anyone is willing to donate their blood (4 blood type, Rh+), please respond! 4 blood type is so hard to find! Call Nikita's mother, Lyudmila 067-585-45-86. Here's information for those wishing to provide financial assistance to Nikita. Alfa-Bank card 4102 4717 6088 6327, Lyudmila Cheban. A huge thank you to everyone who's helping Nikita! Without you, there would be no hope of salvation! Because, as trite as it may sound, without money there is no treatment in our country. Thank you!"
10 October 2012 Nikita begins his fourth round of chemotherapy. The boy is tolerating the treatment well, although his blood counts drop regularly. We sincerely hope that Nikita will soon overcome this terrible disease.
26 October 2012 News from Olga Patis:
"And so, 2 months have passed, and Nikita has tolerated his third (and God willing, final) surgery well. The tissue samples taken after the tumor removal showed no diseased cells. And that's wonderful news!! This isn't the end of treatment, but another step on the road to recovery! Now Mom says: "I believe we will overcome"
Nikita is only 5 years old, two of which he has been fighting his illness with incredible courage. He's a sunny boy, brave, inquisitive, and cheerful.
Between chemotherapy sessions, he runs and frolics like any healthy child.".
12 November 2012 News from Olga Patis:
"Nikita now has one last round of chemotherapy left. May God grant him the strength to endure; I hope this is his final test. We are overjoyed! An interim CT scan showed no tumors. This was revealed literally an hour ago. People's kindness and generosity REALLY help Nikita and his mother to stay focused on victory.
