12 years ago, on a boy was born weighing 3 kg and height 50 cm. His name is Vsevolod. The baby was discharged from the maternity hospital with a diagnosis «healthy». And after some time, I noticed that Seva was trying to lie down in an unnatural way. We visited many hospitals for examinations. Initially, my son was diagnosed with a neurological condition: doctors said it was the muscles pulling on him, causing him to develop an abnormal body posture. After five hospitals, we found a good doctor, and she referred us for an X-ray.

It turned out that Seva had a grade 2 spine curvature, caused by wedge-shaped vertebrae in the thoracic spine, split vertebrae in the cervical spine, and 3 additional vertebrae in the lumbar spine. Furthermore, the child had muscle paralysis (tetraparesis). And more hospital stays, treatment.

Thanks to intensive treatment, the tetraparesis disappeared. And the scoliosis began to worsen, the child began to stand on his legs, putting pressure on the spine. A hunchback began to develop. Seva was very weak and often ill. More precisely, he simply did not recover. All these years have been very difficult and it's too hard to remember everything; I want to forget it as quickly as possible. A year ago, we moved to a new school. Seva studies lying down. But time can't be turned back; the child already has 4 the final stage of scoliosis. We had a consultation with Dr. Kasyan, in Kharkiv, Kyiv and, of course, visited all the best surgeons in Odessa. They all referred us for surgery. Scoliosis is dangerous not only for its outward manifestations, it is not life-threatening. He is very dangerous because the child's internal organs cannot develop.

In Seva's spinal arch is pressing on the heart, and it has deviated from its normal position. One lung is simply crushed by the spine, and the other — is hypertrophied. The diagnosis is — pulmonary hemiparesis. In short, ALL internal organs are either functioning poorly or are about to fail. That's why we don't see people with street. They die at a similar scoliosis on the young or young age. There are different causes and manifestations of scoliosis.

We were really hoping to have the surgery in Kharkiv, but we returned from there 20 April 2012 We consulted with Professor Mezentsev, he doesn't undertake the surgery because the child's scoliosis is too complex (one lung has failed). The risk is too great. The professor advised us to go to   Germany, where similar surgeries are performed.

Furthermore, the underlying cause of scoliosis in Seva — is genetic, but our doctors were unable to make a definitive diagnosis; Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is in question. The disease has affected all internal organs and systems, «they are all sick» (a quote from the professor), and if a correct genetic diagnosis is not made and  treatment is not started, then  the iron structure that is implanted in the spine may also «slump» to the side, as well as the entire back. The professor gave us two months to raise the money and process all the paperwork, and in 2 months we'll be on the operating table. For us, time is ticking by minutes, the baby is melting before our eyes it's hard for him to walk, we need to hurry.

I found a clinic in Germany, in the city of Neustadt «Schön Klinik Neustadt». Professor Henry F. G. Halm, MD, works there; he has been performing similar operations for 20 years. I talked to people who had surgery with him, and this gives me hope that Seva will be healthy.
