Date of birth

Little Georgy has already undergone five surgeries at his incomplete 3 year. Immediately after birth, doctors diagnosed him with a defect in the tibia, a congenital pseudoarthrosis. The boy's parents are making every effort to cure their son, and they are hoping for caring people to provide them help.

Immediately after birth, little Georgy's leg was noticeably deformed. The parents went to the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, where they took an X-ray. The images revealed a defect in the tibia, a congenital pseudoarthrosis. The doctor immediately told the mother that the child was disabled. The boy was only 23 days old when he was diagnosed with the dreaded — neurofibromatosis. At his leg had to be put in a plaster cast, which was changed every month.

In March 2011 an 8-month-old child was referred to the «Institute of Spinal Pathology and Joints named after Professor M.I. Sitenko» in Kharkiv, where he underwent his first surgery. After the surgery, he was put in a cast again up to his hip. Every two months, his parents had to bring Georgy to Kharkiv for checkups.

In September 2011 the boy underwent a second surgery, where a telescopic rod was inserted into the bone and a leg orthosis was installed (a special device designed to relieve, stabilize, activate, and ( correct the function of the damaged joint or limb), in which the child underwent 6 months. The orthosis was then replaced with a new device — spongeal brace (fixing orthopedic device for joint immobilization, consisting of sleeves (and sometimes shoes), connected by splints without hinges.

Little Heorhii has already been through five operations. The last one was very difficult (28.12.12), it lasted 8 hours (fragments of bone were taken from the pelvis and grafted onto the bone of his leg). After the operation a pin-and-rod apparatus was fitted to the affected leg. For a week the child ran a temperature, and antibiotics had to be injected 3 times a day for 7 days.

Georgy's grandmother and (grandfather  — mother's parents provide tremendous assistance (as much as his pension allows). The boy's father has no parents; they died when he was 6 years old.

At the boy is currently scheduled for another trip to Kharkiv, where his pin-rod apparatus will be removed, and doctors will decide how to proceed with treatment in the future.

Georgiy's parents are trying to keep their spirit up and hope that someday the time will come when they will walk with their son, holding his hands. They desperately want their boy to be able to jump and run, like all children.

But for all these dreams to come true, the Golub family still faces a long struggle for their son's health. Georgy's parents are very hopeful that there will be compassionate and  caring people who will provide them with all possible assistance in this struggle.
