My name is Seva, I am 23 years old. I was born and live in the town of Chornomorsk in the Odesa region.
My whirling youth was full of vivid feelings and achievements. At 21 I went on my first voyage. At 22 – on my second.
In the summer of 2019 my life changed completely. I am forced to ask people for help and am now fighting for my life. I mean to win!
During the second voyage my temperature started rising to 40 degrees and stayed there for days on end. Savage back pain appeared. I could not find a place for myself, took medicines and waited for the voyage to be over as soon as possible. I brought the temperature down with tablets. Then the lymph nodes in my neck swelled up. We were in Tunisia at the time. An agent came for me and we drove to a doctor. After examining me he said I had to go home urgently, and a few days later I was flying to Odesa. My condition was getting worse, the back pain grew stronger. At the airports I simply lay down on the floor with my bags beside me, because the pain would not let me walk.
On arrival I immediately began all the examinations and gave samples for tests. The diagnosis fell on my head like a snowball – testicular cancer, stage 3, with multiple metastases. I could not believe it. My whole life flashed before my eyes. It became frightening, but I decided I would fight! I love this life and I am bound to live!
On 23.05.2019 I was admitted to the Odesa oncology dispensary. There I had an operation to remove the right testicle together with the tumour. Material was taken for immunohistology, and from 4.06.2019 I began receiving chemotherapy. In Odesa I went through 6 courses of BEP, 4 courses of TIP and 1 course of Gemox.
On the whole, all these courses of chemotherapy gave no result. My condition only worsened. Our family decided to approach Israel, the Ichilov clinic.
Unfortunately, all this coincided with the COVID - 19 pandemic. The borders were closed and we contacted the doctors for an online consultation. We sent all the tests to Israel, and there they reviewed my first histology. It showed that I have a severe mixed embryonal cell tumour, which is aggressive and requires individual treatment. At that time a metastasis went into a vertebra, and my legs and torso were paralysed. That happened on 28.05.2020. The doctor decided to give me a treatment protocol of two courses of chemotherapy and to carry out radiotherapy on the spine. After that a full examination has to be made and a plan of further treatment worked out.
After the first chemotherapy the feeling in my torso came back and the feeling in my legs began to return. I began to move them little by little, to work on my feet and knees. I was able to sit up and change position on my own. The marker fell noticeably. You cannot imagine how pleased I was!
Two weeks after the second course of chemotherapy I had a test for the marker. It had begun to rise again, and the next day my legs failed once more. We urgently contacted Israel. We were told to have radiotherapy immediately. The very next day we found ourselves at a private radiotherapy clinic, and we are still there. The cost of one course of radiotherapy is – 3300$. My chemotherapy is given with Israeli drugs. The cost of one course is – 2900$. I have already had two.
The doctors said that for the treatment we need to raise at least 50000$. A trip to Israel still lies ahead of me. For us this is an impossible sum at present. I am hoping for the help of people who care. The sooner we can close the fundraiser, the sooner I shall be able to fly out for treatment. I very much want to live and, for my part, I am doing everything I can. I hope for the kindness of people who care. I cannot put into words how much your help and your prayers mean to me.
