Nastya was born 1 December 1998 . She grew up a quiet and obedient girl, studying choreography and music. Then, the girl began dreaming of a modeling career and making her first successes in the beauty field, having been born with excellent natural talent. It seemed nothing foreshadowed trouble.
About 2 years ago, Nastya began to feel weak and increased fatigue. Visits to doctors did not provide an accurate picture. At first, doctors decided that Nastya's condition was related to adolescence and labeled it vegetative-vascular dystonia(neurocirculatory dystonia. Some doctors said she needed exercise and exertion, while others recommended, on the contrary, reducing physical activity.
In July 2013 Nastya became very ill, so the family council decided to give her a full examination. The doctors' verdict was sudden and completely unexpected.
Nastya has lost a lot of weight, shortness of breath, and weakness with dizziness prevent her from living her normal life, going to school, and even breathing like everyone else. Nastya cannot manage without oxygen. And If only a couple of months have passed from the diagnosis to the present, as of today the question is about an urgent decision not only about a more detailed examination, but also about the upcoming, already necessary surgery.
Nastya hardly sleeps. She complained of her heart pounding wildly, and in addition to constant weakness and shortness of breath over the past couple of weeks, she felt as if she was about to faint.
Nastya is now in intensive care. Her condition has sharply worsened. She requires additional examination and hospitalization at a German clinic in Hessen, so that intensive care can stabilize her condition, to conduct further diagnostics, and in the future, a lung transplant was possible. — The only option On currently, the treatment method for pulmonary hypertension is still in use.
Fundraising for treatment abroad is not due to — parental whims and mistrust of domestic doctors. The fact is that in our country, there is no social or financial assistance for patients with pulmonary hypertension, neither in the form of expensive medications, nor in the form of treatment abroad at the state's expense. Lung transplants are also not performed in Ukraine. —

In the evening Nastia's family telephoned and shared good news. The fundraiser is closed! We thank everyone who did not stay indifferent and helped the girl. On the night of 30 to 31 December 2013 Nastia had a 12 hour lung transplant operation. The missing 120 thousand euros were paid by a German foundation.

Nastya's condition is unstable, sometimes getting better, sometimes worse. My father has already been examined. A professor was here today and said that a consultation regarding Nastya's operation in Hanover should take place soon, and if they make a positive decision, they'll invite her parents to prepare for the donation surgery. We're praying as best we can, even though the bill there is no less than it would have been in the States.

Nastya's hemoglobin is plummeting. The Giessen clinic isn't performing blood transfusions. Hanover will issue a bill on Monday for 150 thousand euros for the operation using her parents' donor organs, as the situation can't wait. — The professor said she might simply not live to see the operation using cadaveric donor organs. Nastya is now breathing with the help of a machine that pumps air for her, as she can no longer breathe in and out on her own due to her weakness.

Yesterday, they removed the ECMO. Today, Nastya is even sitting up in bed a little and even eating on her own! Nastya has become calmer. — The fear and panic are slowly receding. Today, she will be meeting with psychologists. — There's a long road ahead and incredible self-control.

Yesterday, Nastya spoke on the phone with her aunt. It was slow and laborious, but she spoke. This gives her hope and is incredibly inspiring!
Nevertheless, Nastya's temperature periodically rises, even reaching 40, but this is all expected; the body is reacting to prolonged anesthesia, the surgery, and the new organs.

Hello. We're making slow progress, taking small steps. Tomorrow is our last day at the clinic, and on Wednesday we're being sent to Berlin for rehabilitation. It'll be for about a month or a little longer. Then back to Hanover, and we'll have checkups every week. Nastya is already walking, but only on very limited amounts so far. We're taking a lot of medication, and she's constantly nauseous. The doctors say it will take another month or two. The surgery is incredibly complicated, of course. The doctors here are very thorough, unlike us, and probably never will be. For them, these transplants are like simple as pie. Nastya speaks English very well with the doctors and nurses, unlike me. If it weren't for her knowledge of the language, we would have already been lost.
I really want to go home to Odessa. I'll write more often once I'm in rehabilitation.
